I grew up in a country music family. My dad was a singer by avocation and an auctioneer by trade.
I fell in love with the steel guitar at an early age. I love Western Swing and Leon McAuliffe was my childhood hero.
I played tuba in the high school band and orchestra and worked my way through college playing bass in a blues band.
Today, I embrace all kinds of music, especially if it is authentic and from the heart. The title "Americana" seems encompassing enough, though "folk" might be an even more general category.
I play in several bands, but lately I've been doing more solo dates. That seems to be what us older guys do.
